Maybe farther.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reyes began moving again.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel called my name.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne more thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArthur contacted me before he died.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My heart tightened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo weeks before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe knew I was helping Rebecca.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did he want?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo know exactly what happened to Daniel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you tell him?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Arthur had learned the full truth only two weeks before his own death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did he say?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Samuel\u2019s eyes filled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said he had spent forty-four years blaming himself for killing Daniel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe did help kill him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat else?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said knowing Vale\u2019s men had reached Daniel didn&#39;t reduce his guilt.
