Different life.<\/p>\n
I did not know whether we had one.<\/p>\n

Mason called from the corridor.<\/p>\n

As I stepped toward the hidden elevator, my phone rang.<\/p>\n

I stared at the number.<\/p>\n

I almost declined.<\/p>\n
Then I thought about the lake house.<\/p>\n
The missing mechanic.<\/p>\n
The buried evidence.<\/p>\n
I answered.<\/p>\n
Arthur did not greet me.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cHenry is sending you to the lake.\u201d<\/p>\n

My skin went cold.<\/p>\n

I looked at Mason.<\/p>\n
He moved closer.<\/p>\n
Arthur continued.<\/p>\n

Arthur paused.<\/p>\n
Then said a name.<\/p>\n
