voice broke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t know he would drag you into this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut you knew Kane would go after him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy take Mark\u2019s money?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause I needed to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to be angry.<\/p>\n<p>I was angry.<\/p>\n<p>But I also understood fear better than I had a week earlier.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere are you now?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m going to meet investigators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s something documents spread across Margaret\u2019s desk.<\/p>\n<p>My home.<\/p>\n<p>My father\u2019s protection.<\/p>\n<p>My financial identity.<\/p>\n<p>Mark had reduced all of it to a number.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat exactly did Kane call valuable?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carla answered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said, \u2018The wife has the asset.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not Mark.<\/p>\n<p>The
