seconds she was handcuffed.<\/p>\n<p>I held my children against me.<\/p>\n<p>They were shaking.<\/p>\n<p>So was I.<\/p>\n<p>But not from fear.<\/p>\n<p>From the revelation.<\/p>\n<p>Vaughn.<\/p>\n<p>My mother.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas.<\/p>\n<p>Evelyn.<\/p>\n<p>The family tree I had believed in had just collapsed.<\/p>\n<p>Denise entered behind the it.<\/p>\n<p>Another arrived.<\/p>\n<p>There is something I need you to know before you hear it from anyone else.<\/p>\n<p>Then:<\/p>\n<p>Evelyn lied.<\/p>\n<p>I looked at Denise.<\/p>\n<p>My hands were shaking.<\/p>\n<p>A third message appeared.<\/p>\n<p>I am not your brother.<\/p>\n<p>I closed my eyes.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time that night, I could breathe.<\/p>\n<p>Then the final message
