People whose names were placed on accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I thought about the bank account in my name.<\/p>\n<p>My skin went cold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy mother knew this would happen to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe feared it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause after Carol died, Richard needed a new identity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I stared at her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She nodded.<\/p>\n<p>The room seemed to narrow.<\/p>\n<p>The stolen house.<\/p>\n<p>The forged deed.<\/p>\n<p>The bank account.<\/p>\n<p>The nine hundred thousand dollars.<\/p>\n<p>The shell companies.<\/p>\n<p>None of it had begun after my mother died.<\/p>\n<p>It had been waiting.<\/p>\n<p>And my name had been chosen long before I understood why.<\/p>\n<p>My phone rang.<\/p>\n<p>David.<\/p>\n<p>I answered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His voice was quiet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou went to the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do you know?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou really should stop asking questions you already know the answer to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou used my identity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou forged my signature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou stole my house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI moved an asset.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#39;s my house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was never the important asset.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I tightened my grip on the phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is under my name?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There was a long pause.<\/p>\n<p>Then David said something that made my blood run cold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAsk your mother.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s dead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen tell me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou still have her key.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do you know about the key?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His voice changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause I was there when she gave it to Melissa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at Melissa.<\/p>\n<p>David continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMom didn&#39;t tell you the truth because she was trying to protect you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou&#39;re lying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then he said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if you want to know why Richard has spent twenty years afraid of your name, open the key.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The call ended.<\/p>\n<p>I looked at the brass key.<\/p>\n<p>It had suddenly become heavier than it should have been.<\/p>\n<p>Liam stepped beside me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did he say?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at Melissa.<\/p>\n<p>She was crying silently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said the key opens something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She nodded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd you know where.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I believed her.<\/p>\n<p>Because for the first time since this began, she looked as frightened as I felt.<\/p>\n<p>Then she whispered:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know who has the lock.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=7837\">Click here to continue reading: PART 6: The Key Led Us Away From the House and Toward a Forgotten Name, While David Finally Admitted What His Father Had Ordered Him to Do<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I said the words again, this time more clearly. \u201cNever let Richard know where Sarah&#39;s name is.\u201d Liam stared at me. \u201cWhat does that mean?\u201d \u201cI don&#39;t know.\u201d Melissa looked &hellip;
