I stared at him.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrank?\u201d<\/p>\n

Thomas nodded.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore Frank became the man you knew, he was desperate. He was losing everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pieces started connecting.<\/p>\n

The control.<\/p>\n

The obsession.<\/p>\n

The lies.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe married my mother because of money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thomas looked away.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt first, maybe not completely. But eventually, yes.\u201d<\/p>\n

I felt sick.<\/p>\n

Because the man who raised me had not only stolen my mother.<\/p>\n

He had stolen my understanding of my entire family.<\/p>\n

Thomas\u2019s expression darkened.<\/p>\n
