Property documents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I sat upright.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then Dad went quiet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s something else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe house paperwork made me check some older files.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I waited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI found one that belonged to your mother.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My mouth went dry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat kind of file?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know yet. There are documents I\u2019ve never seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout what?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think she left something for you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I stood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a locked cabinet in my office.
