anything when you come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I stared at him.<\/p>\n<p>No meals.<\/p>\n<p>No money.<\/p>\n<p>No childcare.<\/p>\n<p>No fixing.<\/p>\n<p>No proving.<\/p>\n<p>Just come.<\/p>\n<p>My eyes that had no fixed shape yet.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, that uncertainty did not feel like emptiness.<\/p>\n<p>It felt like room.<\/p>\n<p>I touched Ernest\u2019s ring and looked toward the western horizon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m coming back,\u201d I whispered.<\/p>\n<p>Not to the old life.<\/p>\n<p>Not to the old house.<\/p>\n<p>Not to the old version of myself.<\/p>\n<p>Just
