I am asking only about availability and price.<\/p>\n<p>I read the last sentence twice.<\/p>\n<p>Dad did not know.<\/p>\n<p>Brooke watched me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s bad, right?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot automatically.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s planning something without him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s asking about availability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brooke frowned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat sounds like a technicality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt might be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at the inquiry again.<\/p>\n<p>No discount.<\/p>\n<p>No assumption.<\/p>\n<p>No demand.<\/p>\n<p>But the old pattern was visible underneath.<\/p>\n<p>Natalie deciding what the next chapter should look like before Dad had agreed to the story.<\/p>\n<p>I closed the form.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t respond yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat are you going to do?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I thought about Dad\u2019s birthday conversation.<\/p>\n<p>Love was not the problem.<\/p>\n<p>Structure was.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing dramatic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brooke raised an eyebrow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat sentence makes me nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m going to treat her like a client.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeaning?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need both parties before booking a vow renewal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brooke smiled slowly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is not currently a policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I opened the standard wedding contract.<\/p>\n<p>Then added one simple requirement.<\/p>\n<p>Both named participants must confirm before consultation.<\/p>\n<p>Not because Natalie was family.<\/p>\n<p>Because no one should be able to plan a commitment ceremony around someone else without their participation.<\/p>\n<p>I saved the policy.<\/p>\n<p>Then replied professionally.<\/p>\n<p>We would be happy to discuss availability once both participants confirmed interest.<\/p>\n<p>Natalie answered thirty minutes later.<\/p>\n<p>Understood.<\/p>\n<p>No argument.<\/p>\n<p>No attempt to explain.<\/p>\n<p>Two days passed.<\/p>\n<p>Then Dad walked into the bakery holding his phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did you send Natalie?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He stared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout vow renewals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dad rubbed his forehead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe told me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow did that go?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He laughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBadly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I winced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I waited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe talked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told her I\u2019m not ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I nodded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe cried.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I said nothing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe said she understood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That mattered.<\/p>\n<p>Dad continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe withdrew the inquiry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then he smiled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut she asked if we could revisit the idea in a year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I smiled too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did you say?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not a promise to renew.<\/p>\n<p>Permission to discuss.<\/p>\n<p>That difference had once been invisible in our family.<\/p>\n<p>Now it was everything.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=31064\">Click here to continue reading: PART 26: A New Employee Made a Costly Mistake, and I Nearly Repeated the Same Controlling Pattern I Had Spent Years Escaping<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three days after Natalie picked up the orange-almond cake, Helen called the bakery.
