Leave from work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ryan stared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou were going to fake medical records?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She hesitated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDaniel was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd you agreed?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought it would keep you out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOut of prison?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOut of scrutiny.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ryan stood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou were going to make me look unstable so no one would trust anything I said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patricia\u2019s face tightened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was temporary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He laughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike Emily\u2019s fake bank account was temporary?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan leaned closer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou didn\u2019t protect me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tried.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His voice stayed calm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou prepared to destroy my credibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patricia\u2019s eyes filled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t know what else to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ryan looked at her for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>Then he asked the question I think he had needed to ask his whole life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you ever once trust me to make my own choice?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patricia opened her mouth.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing came.<\/p>\n<p>That was the answer.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan nodded.<\/p>\n<p>Then walked out.<\/p>\n<p>He did not slam the door.<\/p>\n<p>That somehow made it more final.<\/p>\n<p>When he reached me, I saw something had changed.<\/p>\n<p>Not healed.<\/p>\n<p>Ended.<\/p>\n<p>He had stopped waiting for Patricia to become the mother he needed.<\/p>\n<p>Behind us, an investigator hurried toward Margaret.<\/p>\n<p>They had recovered part of Phase Three from Karen\u2019s laptop.<\/p>\n<p>It was worse than Patricia admitted.<\/p>\n<p>The plan included forged psychiatric records.<\/p>\n<p>A fabricated prescription history.<\/p>\n<p>And a staged workplace incident designed to place Ryan on involuntary leave.<\/p>\n<p>I read the page once.<\/p>\n<p>Then another line caught my attention.<\/p>\n<p>Spousal corroboration preferred.<\/p>\n<p>My stomach tightened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does that mean?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Margaret stared at it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey expected Emily to confirm Ryan was unstable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ryan looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would never.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat means they needed\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He stopped.<\/p>\n<p>We understood together.<\/p>\n<p>If I refused to cooperate, I became another problem.<\/p>\n<p>If I agreed, Ryan became discredited.<\/p>\n<p>Phase Three did not target only him.<\/p>\n<p>It was designed to turn us against each other.<\/p>\n<p>At the bottom of the recovered page sat one final note.<\/p>\n<p>If EC remains resistant, separate permanently.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan stared at those words.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPermanently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No one interpreted them aloud.<\/p>\n<p>We did not need to.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=30790\">Click here to continue reading: PART 22: Reeves\u2019s Phase Three Plan Turned Our Marriage Into Evidence, Until Claire Identified the One Person He Still Trusted<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ryan kept staring at the photograph on his phone.
