do?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Relief appeared.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas stopped it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat does not make what you did acceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Madison nodded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou may go to prison.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ryan looked toward his father.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will not lie for you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Madison closed her eyes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want you to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That might have been the first truly adult sentence I had heard from her.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas reached out.<\/p>\n<p>She took his hand.<\/p>\n<p>Forgiveness was not spoken.<\/p>\n<p>Love was.<\/p>\n<p>The two were not the same.<\/p>\n<p>An investigator entered twenty minutes later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cB-19
