Why destroy living people for ghosts?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel stared at the metal case.<\/p>\n<p>It was the most persuasive thing Nathan had said.<\/p>\n<p>That made it dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel thought of Anna.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel deserved justice.<\/p>\n<p>Employees did not deserve ruin.<\/p>\n<p>Both true.<\/p>\n<p>Destroying evidence solved one truth by killing the other.<\/p>\n<p>Preserving it without planning could do the reverse.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel looked at Richard, who had arrived behind the tactical team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan we seal the records temporarily under court custody?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richard nodded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrevent publication while investigators build a restitution and restructuring plan?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPotentially.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan\u2019s face changed.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan Bellmont disclose financial exposure voluntarily before uncontrolled release?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan employee wages be prioritized in restructuring?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan we create a restitution claim for Samuel\u2019s surviving heirs?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gregory looked at him.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan laughed bitterly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou think paperwork fixes this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel closed the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think destroying evidence repeats the crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan stared.<\/p>\n<p>Police moved toward him.<\/p>\n<p>This time he pulled a gun.<\/p>\n<p>Everything happened at once.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus Reed raised his weapon.<\/p>\n<p>Officers shouted.<\/p>\n<p>Gregory tried to stand and collapsed.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan pointed the gun not at Daniel.<\/p>\n<p>At the metal case.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel understood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan fired.<\/p>\n<p>The bullet struck the desk beside the case.<\/p>\n<p>Police fired.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan jerked backward.<\/p>\n<p>One shot.<\/p>\n<p>Then another.<\/p>\n<p>He fell against the window.<\/p>\n<p>The gun dropped.<\/p>\n<p>Silence.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel stared.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan looked down at the blood spreading through his shirt.<\/p>\n<p>He seemed almost surprised.<\/p>\n<p>Police moved toward him.<\/p>\n<p>He slid to the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Edward\u2019s brother.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca\u2019s brother.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas\u2019s brother.<\/p>\n<p>Cross\u2019s father.<\/p>\n<p>Architect.<\/p>\n<p>Coward.<\/p>\n<p>Victim.<\/p>\n<p>Abuser.<\/p>\n<p>All at once.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan looked at Daniel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll lose the company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel crouched several feet away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan smiled weakly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen we all lose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel shook his head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan\u2019s eyes narrowed.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel looked toward Gregory being lifted onto a stretcher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSamuel finally gets his name back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan\u2019s face went still.<\/p>\n<p>Seconds later, he lost consciousness.<\/p>\n<p>The medics worked on him.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel stood.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus looked at the damaged desk.<\/p>\n<p>The true ledger was intact.<\/p>\n<p>So was Anna\u2019s letter.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing had been destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>Richard approached.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat now?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel looked toward the river outside.<\/p>\n<p>Morning light had begun turning the water silver.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow we stop treating survival like the same thing as winning.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=30660\">Click here to continue reading: PART 34: Daniel Put Bellmont\u2019s Future Before a Court Instead of a Family, While Sophie Asked the Question Every Mercer Adult Had Avoided<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The old Mercer shipping terminal looked abandoned from the highway.
