Something dramatic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we\u2019ve used our allotment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He agreed.<\/p>\n<p>Then his voice softened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWilliam would be relieved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked toward the photograph on my shelf.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was worried about leaving you with Tyler\u2019s problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe left me plenty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Raymond laughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut he also left instructions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEventually I listened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After we hung up, I took William\u2019s recording from the secure copy Melissa had given me.<\/p>\n<p>I played only the final portion.<\/p>\n<p>Do not let guilt make your decisions.<\/p>\n<p>I closed my eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Then my phone rang.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica.<\/p>\n<p>She had found an apartment.<\/p>\n<p>Barbara had found part-time work and was applying for her own place.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler was moving out of the large house while Jessica decided what she wanted from the marriage.<\/p>\n<p>They planned to sell it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre you okay?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I appreciated the answer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I think I will be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She hesitated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEleanor?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI owe you an apology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ve given me one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot for the rent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I waited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor saying my mother was family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The old sentence returned.<\/p>\n<p>Because my mother is family.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI used that word to mean people I felt responsible for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I wasn\u2019t one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I expected anger.<\/p>\n<p>Instead I felt tired tenderness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were all using family as an excuse for something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She was quiet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat were you using it for?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot having boundaries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFavoritism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She laughed weakly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFair.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat about Tyler?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jessica thought.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cControl.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd Barbara?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDependence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat about William?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A long pause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecrecy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That one hurt.<\/p>\n<p>But it was true.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd you?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n<p>I looked around my house.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGuilt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neither of us spoke.<\/p>\n<p>Then Jessica said, \u201cMaybe we all need a new definition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We ended the call.<\/p>\n<p>I thought the story had finally reached its quiet part.<\/p>\n<p>Then, two days later, Melissa called.<\/p>\n<p>Not Raymond.<\/p>\n<p>Not Tyler.<\/p>\n<p>Melissa.<\/p>\n<p>Her first words were:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEleanor, the district attorney\u2019s office contacted me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My stomach dropped.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout Tyler.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe forged transfer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I sat down.<\/p>\n<p>I had known this possibility existed.<\/p>\n<p>Knowing did not prepare me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do they want?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo speak with you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause you are the person whose inheritance and estate rights were affected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I closed my eyes.<\/p>\n<p>The company was sold.<\/p>\n<p>The money was corrected.<\/p>\n<p>The debts were visible.<\/p>\n<p>The property was secure.<\/p>\n<p>But paperwork could be repaired faster than consequences.<\/p>\n<p>My son had finally stopped running from the truth.<\/p>\n<p>Now the truth was coming to meet him.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=29687\">Click here to continue reading: PART 20: After the Money Was Restored and the Company Was Sold, I Faced the One Consequence I Could Not Negotiate Away for My Son<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cA lien filed by William.\u201d I repeated the words because they did not fit together. \u201cHow does someone put a lien on his own property?\u201d Raymond shook his head. \u201cNot &hellip;
