me.

“There’s something I need you to see.”

“What?”

“A company property.”

Tyler’s head lifted.

“Daniel.”

He ignored him.

“What property?” I asked.

Daniel looked at Tyler.

Then back at me.

“The south yard.”

“I don’t know what that is.”

“It’s the land where we keep overflow equipment.”

“What about it?”

Daniel hesitated.

“It doesn’t belong to the company.”

I frowned.

“Then who owns it?”

He looked uncomfortable.

“William did.”

My pulse changed.

“Personally?”

“Yes.”

“Was it in his estate?”

Daniel shook his head.

“No.”

I turned toward Tyler.

His face had gone pale again.

Another missing asset.

Another omission.

“How much is it worth?” I asked.

Daniel answered quietly.

“Probably six hundred thousand now.”

I stared at him.

William had left a quarter of the company hidden from the estate.

Now there was land too.

I looked at Tyler.

“Did you know?”

He did not answer quickly enough.

That was answer enough.

“Tyler.”

“Yes.”

The exhaustion disappeared from me.

“What happened to the property after William died?”

Tyler swallowed.

“I’ve been paying the taxes.”

“That is not what I asked.”

He looked at the floor.

“The deed is still in Dad’s name.”

Nobody spoke.

A piece of land worth hundreds of thousands of dollars had remained legally titled to my dead husband while Tyler’s company continued using it.

Unreported.

Untransferred.

Unresolved.

I thought of William’s recording.

No shortcuts.

No private arrangements.

Apparently, we had only begun finding them.

Click here to continue reading: PART 13: The Forgotten Land Beneath Tyler’s Equipment Yard
