Stable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCaroline?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSilas?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bell listened again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRunning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRunning where?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cService stairwell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The room remained tense.<\/p>\n<p>Another transmission.<\/p>\n<p>Bell\u2019s expression changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgents have him contained.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel exhaled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cContained?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasement level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A minute later:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSilas is in custody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I sat down.<\/p>\n<p>Not gracefully.<\/p>\n<p>My legs simply stopped cooperating.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel crouched beside me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou okay?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you said yes, I was calling a doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I laughed once.<\/p>\n<p>Then cried.<\/p>\n<p>Not loudly.<\/p>\n<p>Just enough for pressure to leave somewhere.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel put his arms around me.<\/p>\n<p>I let him.<\/p>\n<p>The house grew quiet around us.<\/p>\n<p>For five minutes, nobody talked about trusts.<\/p>\n<p>Or crime.<\/p>\n<p>Or money.<\/p>\n<p>Then Agent Bell\u2019s phone rang.<\/p>\n<p>His expression shifted again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat now?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p>He hesitated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSilas had another document.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom box 417?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA handwritten codicil.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richard stood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo Elias Ward\u2019s trust?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEffect?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bell looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPotentially significant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I almost laughed from exhaustion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He read from the preliminary scan.<\/p>\n<p>Upon invalidation of forced succession, controlling authority transfers to the independent protector named by Harold Briggs.<\/p>\n<p>I stared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndependent protector?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richard frowned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bell looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cName is redacted in the copy Silas had.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen how do we find out?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bell continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOriginal designation is referenced as residing in Harold\u2019s family archive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I closed my eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Another document.<\/p>\n<p>Another hiding place.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel whispered, \u201cPlease tell me Dad did not put this in another gardening book.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I almost smiled.<\/p>\n<p>Then Richard pointed at the wording.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFamily archive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I opened my eyes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat doesn\u2019t mean papers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat then?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I thought of Harold\u2019s ordinary habits.<\/p>\n<p>Family archive.<\/p>\n<p>Not legal archive.<\/p>\n<p>Photographs.<\/p>\n<p>Home movies.<\/p>\n<p>Letters.<\/p>\n<p>Something personal.<\/p>\n<p>Then memory hit.<\/p>\n<p>Harold recorded one video every anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>Forty-three of them.<\/p>\n<p>Most silly.<\/p>\n<p>Some serious.<\/p>\n<p>We had stored them on an external hard drive.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMom?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe anniversary videos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richard said, \u201cWhere?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I stared at him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt your house,\u201d I told Daniel.<\/p>\n<p>His face changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my office closet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The same house where my family had first asked me to leave.<\/p>\n<p>The same house that had triggered everything.<\/p>\n<p>Harold\u2019s final protector might have been sitting there the entire time.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=29625\">Click here to continue reading: PART 30: Harold\u2019s Anniversary Videos Revealed the Person He Chose to Control Red Mesa\u2019s Final Safeguard, and the Name Changed My Family Again<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For three seconds, nobody moved.
