Travis back the years he was treated as a threat.<\/p>\n<p>I could not un-sign fake documents by being angry at them.<\/p>\n<p>Dad could not watch his instructions finally matter.<\/p>\n<p>Owen and Lucy could not unremember being left on my porch.<\/p>\n<p>Money could be traced.<\/p>\n<p>Property could be sold.<\/p>\n<p>Claims could be settled.<\/p>\n<p>Records could be corrected.<\/p>\n<p>But emotional accounting did not balance that cleanly.<\/p>\n<p>That evening, I went to Travis\u2019s house.<\/p>\n<p>Courtney was there helping Lucy build a puzzle.<\/p>\n<p>Owen was reading on the couch.<\/p>\n<p>Travis made pasta.<\/p>\n<p>It was awkward.<\/p>\n<p>Normal.<\/p>\n<p>Unfinished.<\/p>\n<p>After the children went upstairs, I told them Garrett had admitted planning the closing around the cruise.<\/p>\n<p>Courtney closed her eyes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo he used the trip.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I still left them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She nodded.<\/p>\n<p>No escape.<\/p>\n<p>Travis asked, \u201cDid he admit the custody manipulation?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome financial strategy. Not every message.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Courtney spoke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m giving my lawyer a corrected affidavit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Travis looked at her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does that mean?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m formally correcting statements I made.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His face changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat could hurt you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCustody?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen why?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She looked toward the stairs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause eventually Owen is going to be old enough to read court records.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Silence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want him learning that I knew the truth and left the lie there because it helped me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Travis looked down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat matters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not forgiveness.<\/p>\n<p>But recognition.<\/p>\n<p>Later, driving home, I thought about Garrett\u2019s offer.<\/p>\n<p>Cooperation could recover assets faster.<\/p>\n<p>Litigation could expose more.<\/p>\n<p>Settlement could protect the children from years of financial collapse.<\/p>\n<p>Aggressive pursuit might satisfy anger while consuming value in fees.<\/p>\n<p>None of those choices made Garrett innocent.<\/p>\n<p>None erased Mom\u2019s conduct.<\/p>\n<p>None erased Courtney\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>The hard part was realizing justice was no longer about finding one dramatic ending.<\/p>\n<p>It was about making deliberate decisions after years of having decisions made around me.<\/p>\n<p>At home, I opened Dad\u2019s letter.<\/p>\n<p>Help when you choose.<\/p>\n<p>That line mattered too.<\/p>\n<p>Choice.<\/p>\n<p>Not endless generosity.<\/p>\n<p>Not endless refusal.<\/p>\n<p>Choice.<\/p>\n<p>I called David.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want a full accounting before discussing settlement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReasonable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want my guarantee removed first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want the children\u2019s money protected independently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want Mom and Courtney to have separate counsel and no pressure to accept what I accept.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbsolutely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want Travis\u2019s custody issues handled separately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I want every forged or false document formally corrected wherever possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat may be complicated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He paused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ve thought this through.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at Dad\u2019s letter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve finally started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The next morning Rachel sent another message.<\/p>\n<p>She had finished preliminary tracing of the hidden reserve account.<\/p>\n<p>There was one unresolved transfer.<\/p>\n<p>$96,000.<\/p>\n<p>Date: eighteen months earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Destination:<\/p>\n<p>An account in my name.<\/p>\n<p>I stared at the screen.<\/p>\n<p>I had never received ninety-six thousand dollars.<\/p>\n<p>I checked every account I owned.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Then Rachel clarified.<\/p>\n<p>Not your current legal name.<\/p>\n<p>An account titled:<\/p>\n<p>Mary Dalton Holdings LLC.<\/p>\n<p>My pulse increased.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t own that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho does?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rachel paused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe registered organizer is Garrett Ross.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The investigation was not over.<\/p>\n<p>Not yet.<\/p>\n<p>Because Garrett had apparently created an entire company using my name.<\/p>\n<p>And if money had flowed through it, then somewhere in the records was still one final version of me I had never authorized.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=29480\">Click here to continue reading: PART 29: The Company Using My Name Had Been Created to Receive Money I Never Saw, and Its Bank Records Pointed to Garrett\u2019s Final Concealment<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three days after the storage-unit search, Garrett asked to speak through lawyers.
