One.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christopher exhaled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c741.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pike wrote it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does that open?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mirror archive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christopher finally answered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder Thomas Vale\u2019s old courthouse office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rachel frowned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThomas had a courthouse office?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore private practice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStill accessible?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough records storage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pike began making calls.<\/p>\n<p>Gabriel looked at Christopher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Mom created this archive, why didn\u2019t she just go to police?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christopher\u2019s expression softened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe tried.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat happened?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe officer she approached called Gerald.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pike stopped mid-dial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cName.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christopher shook his head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s in the archive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The implication settled over us.<\/p>\n<p>Eleanor had tried to report her husband.<\/p>\n<p>Someone inside law enforcement warned him.<\/p>\n<p>From that point forward, she stopped trusting institutions.<\/p>\n<p>No wonder she built layers.<\/p>\n<p>Storage units.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>Codes.<\/p>\n<p>Separate boxes.<\/p>\n<p>People holding half-truths.<\/p>\n<p>She had not been paranoid.<\/p>\n<p>She had been trying to construct a system Gerald could not capture all at once.<\/p>\n<p>Pike finished his call.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe move in thirty minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gabriel stood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pike looked ready to argue.<\/p>\n<p>Christopher interrupted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe needs to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe code isn\u2019t only numbers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat else?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVoice verification.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gabriel stared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy voice?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFamily phrase.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat phrase?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christopher shook his head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEleanor never told Thomas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen how am I supposed to know?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe said you would.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rachel whispered, \u201cMom built this for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christopher nodded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor both of you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rachel looked surprised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s my part?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnknown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pike rubbed his forehead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hate dead people\u2019s puzzles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For the first time in two days, Rachel almost smiled.<\/p>\n<p>Then an officer entered.<\/p>\n<p>He handed Pike a printed message.<\/p>\n<p>Pike read it.<\/p>\n<p>His expression changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p>He looked toward Christopher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGerald\u2019s attorney filed an emergency motion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gabriel frowned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor bail?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pike looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo suppress everything recovered from Eleanor\u2019s storage unit, Thomas Vale\u2019s archive, and Anna Bennett\u2019s safe-deposit box.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rachel laughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s in jail and still trying to erase evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pike shook his head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat isn\u2019t the important part.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe judge assigned to hear the motion tomorrow morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I knew before he said it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMalcolm Reeves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pike nodded.<\/p>\n<p>The same judge whose name Christopher claimed was inside Gerald\u2019s black notebook.<\/p>\n<p>And for the first time, I understood why Gerald had smiled while police put him in handcuffs.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=29398\">Click here to continue reading: PART 18: Judge Reeves Was Supposed to Decide Whether Eleanor\u2019s Evidence Survived, Until the Mirror Archive Revealed What Gerald Had Held Over Him<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gabriel stared through the narrow glass panel in the interview-room door as if he could see through two corridors and several locked doors to where Gerald was being held. \u201cHe &hellip;
