Truth.<\/p>\n<p>His face changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour mother didn\u2019t hide the missing pages with a person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a document archive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhich one?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richard picked up the seventh letter.<\/p>\n<p>Mother.<\/p>\n<p>Then the eighth.<\/p>\n<p>Keeps.<\/p>\n<p>Then the ninth.<\/p>\n<p>Truth.<\/p>\n<p>He turned them over.<\/p>\n<p>Each envelope bore the same return-address initials.<\/p>\n<p>C.B.<\/p>\n<p>Carol Bennett.<\/p>\n<p>But beneath the flap of the final envelope was another tiny notation.<\/p>\n<p>MHS-3.<\/p>\n<p>David whispered, \u201cMunicipal Historical Storage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I frowned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richard looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe county archive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd three?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThird floor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Melissa understood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPaper.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExactly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liam stared at the letters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrandma hid evidence in a public archive?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richard nodded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomewhere nobody could quietly destroy it without creating a record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at my mother\u2019s handwriting.<\/p>\n<p>She had hidden the answer inside birthday letters to a child.<\/p>\n<p>Not because Liam was involved.<\/p>\n<p>Because he was the one person everyone underestimated.<\/p>\n<p>Then Chloe appeared in the doorway.<\/p>\n<p>She looked exhausted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did you find?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liam showed her.<\/p>\n<p>She stared at the letters.<\/p>\n<p>Then at Richard.<\/p>\n<p>Her face changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMHS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richard looked at her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat about it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMark used those initials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The room went silent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did he say?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chloe swallowed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe told Hale, \u2018MHS is clean.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>David\u2019s face hardened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore they took me to the warehouse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I stood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does clean mean?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No one answered immediately.<\/p>\n<p>They did not need to.<\/p>\n<p>Mark had already found the archive.<\/p>\n<p>And if \u201cclean\u201d meant what I feared, the missing pages might already be gone.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=28160\">Click here to continue reading: PART 16: We Reached the Archive Too Late for Carol\u2019s Missing Pages, but Mark Had Overlooked the Evidence She Hid Inside the Evidence<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The warehouse erupted around us.
