doorbell rang.<\/p>\n<p>Leah stood outside holding two paint samples.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou haven\u2019t even seen them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo more painting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hallway is sad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hallway is a hallway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She pushed past me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis one is called Quiet Linen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat sounds like a threat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She held up the other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSoft Willow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I stared at her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou did that on purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I took the sample.<\/p>\n<p>Soft Willow.<\/p>\n<p>The color was actually good.<\/p>\n<p>I hated that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leah grinned.<\/p>\n<p>We spent the afternoon painting.<\/p>\n<p>Halfway through, my phone buzzed.<\/p>\n<p>Marianne.<\/p>\n<p>I checked the message.<\/p>\n<p>Sentencing date set. You are not required to attend unless you wish to provide a statement.
