make her stand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She turned the image toward us.<\/p>\n<p>A handwritten schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Gregory\u2019s handwriting, according to Amanda.<\/p>\n<p>Several names were listed down the left side.<\/p>\n<p>Charles.<\/p>\n<p>Amanda.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca.<\/p>\n<p>Isaac.<\/p>\n<p>Beside each name were document descriptions.<\/p>\n<p>Approval.<\/p>\n<p>Release.<\/p>\n<p>Waiver.<\/p>\n<p>Consent.<\/p>\n<p>Then, beside my own name, written years before I ever knew Gregory personally, were two words.<\/p>\n<p>Future guarantor.<\/p>\n<p>I stared at the page.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Farrah enlarged the date.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule had been created approximately six months before I married Isaac.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow did he know who you were?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I felt cold.<\/p>\n<p>Amanda\u2019s face changed.<\/p>\n<p>Not guilt.<\/p>\n<p>Recognition.<\/p>\n<p>Isaac saw it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She looked away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMom, how did Gregory know about her before we were married?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amanda said nothing.<\/p>\n<p>I moved closer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen did you first investigate me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her eyes met mine.<\/p>\n<p>I understood before she spoke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore Isaac proposed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The room went silent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow much did you investigate?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour family. Your trust.
