spoke immediately.

“It may be a scan issue.”

Rachel looked at him.

“A scan issue does not add a sentence.”

“I mean there may have been multiple drafts.”

“My signature is on it,” I said.

Victor looked at me.

“You signed the warning.”

“I signed my copy.”

Rachel slid the two pages closer together.

The signature on the altered form looked like mine from a distance.

Up close, the first letter leaned differently.

The final stroke was too long.

Sarah had watched me sign enough checks to spot it instantly.

So could I.

“That’s not my serious.”

Victor’s voice rose.

“You’re taking the word of a driver who openly admits he disobeyed dispatch.”

Rachel looked at him.

“I’m comparing two documents.”

He went silent.

Then she turned the laptop toward herself and typed.

A minute later, her expression tightened.

“What?” Julian asked.

Rachel did not answer immediately.

She looked at Victor.

“What time did Marcus return to the terminal that continued.

“It was uploaded using your credentials.”

The office became so quiet that I could hear trucks moving outside.

Victor finally said, “My terminal is
