\u201cThank you.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I can tell you what Carol told me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rebecca waited.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe said raising you was the only part of her life she never regretted.\u201d<\/p>\n
My daughter looked down.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe regretted the lies. She regretted Anna. She regretted Walter. She regretted Emily every day.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rebecca began crying quietly.<\/p>\n
