her.<\/p>\n<p>I recognized the advice.<\/p>\n<p>Some things did not need immediate repair.<\/p>\n<p>Then Harrison delivered Eleanor\u2019s most important statement.<\/p>\n<p>Julian had not approached her because of the house.<\/p>\n<p>Not originally.<\/p>\n<p>He had approached her because he needed money.<\/p>\n<p>She reviewed Khloe\u2019s family background.<\/p>\n<p>She found Dad\u2019s estate.<\/p>\n<p>Then she found Mom\u2019s accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Only later did she identify the house as the largest potential asset.<\/p>\n<p>Mom had not been chosen because she was weak.<\/p>\n<p>She had been chosen because she was accessible.<\/p>\n<p>Khloe brought Julian inside.<\/p>\n<p>I stayed far away.<\/p>\n<p>Mom trusted family.<\/p>\n<p>Those three ordinary facts created the opening.<\/p>\n<p>That distinction mattered.<\/p>\n<p>Mom had spent weeks asking what weakness Julian saw in her.<\/p>\n<p>The answer was not weakness.<\/p>\n<p>It was proximity.<\/p>\n<p>Trust.<\/p>\n<p>Love.<\/p>\n<p>Human things.<\/p>\n<p>That night she slept better.<\/p>\n<p>The next morning, Harrison arrived with another recovered Eleanor file.<\/p>\n<p>He looked grim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat now?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He placed one page on the table.<\/p>\n<p>A timeline.<\/p>\n<p>At the bottom, a date six weeks after the day I unexpectedly came home.<\/p>\n<p>Beside it were three words:<\/p>\n<p>Martha placement target.<\/p>\n<p>Mom read them.<\/p>\n<p>Then looked at the calendar.<\/p>\n<p>If I had delayed my trip by six weeks, Julian\u2019s plan might already have entered its next stage.<\/p>\n<p>She folded the paper once.<\/p>\n<p>Very carefully.<\/p>\n<p>Then she said, \u201cI think I\u2019d like to know where he planned to send
