was bright blue.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan stood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe blue envelope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Margaret nodded slowly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I felt every thread tighten at once.<\/p>\n<p>Emily had told Laura where to find a blue envelope.<\/p>\n<p>Laura had brought Evan back from the clinic.<\/p>\n<p>A blue envelope had been placed in his diaper bag.<\/p>\n<p>And I had never seen it.<\/p>\n<p>I tried to remember that evening.<\/p>\n<p>Work.<\/p>\n<p>Exhaustion.<\/p>\n<p>A crying baby.<\/p>\n<p>The diaper bag dropped beside the kitchen chair.<\/p>\n<p>Then something returned.<\/p>\n<p>Not clearly.<\/p>\n<p>A man at my front door.<\/p>\n<p>A delivery.<\/p>\n<p>No.<\/p>\n<p>Someone had come by.<\/p>\n<p>I looked at Nathan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour
