Daniel keeps mentioning Station Twelve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roy looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDad worked at Station Twelve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor how long?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of his career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Katz wrote the phrase down.<\/p>\n<p>Firehouse pension records.<\/p>\n<p>Station Twelve.<\/p>\n<p>Another clue.<\/p>\n<p>Another piece Arthur had never mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>We were preparing to leave when Mrs. Baines stopped us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s one more thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She disappeared into another room and returned holding a small security-camera monitor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy grandson installed this after somebody stole packages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The camera covered her driveway.<\/p>\n<p>And part of Claire\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Baines rewound the footage.<\/p>\n<p>The morning of Claire\u2019s accident appeared.<\/p>\n<p>Claire walked toward her car carrying her handbag.<\/p>\n<p>She placed something in the trunk.<\/p>\n<p>Then froze.<\/p>\n<p>A man stood at the edge of the frame.<\/p>\n<p>Only part of him was visible.<\/p>\n<p>Dark jacket.<\/p>\n<p>Gray hair.<\/p>\n<p>Claire walked toward him.<\/p>\n<p>They argued.<\/p>\n<p>No audio.<\/p>\n<p>Then the man stepped fully into view.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra whispered, \u201cDaniel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He did not attack Claire.<\/p>\n<p>He did not touch her.<\/p>\n<p>But he took something from his pocket and held it up.<\/p>\n<p>Claire stared at it.<\/p>\n<p>Then she got into her car.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel walked away.<\/p>\n<p>Claire drove off three minutes later.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Katz paused the image.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is he holding?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The resolution was poor.<\/p>\n<p>Roy leaned closer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA bottle?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My stomach tightened.<\/p>\n<p>Small.<\/p>\n<p>Amber.<\/p>\n<p>Prescription size.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I remembered eight missing pills.<\/p>\n<p>Arthur\u2019s pain medication.<\/p>\n<p>Roy stared at the screen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI took eight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nobody spoke.<\/p>\n<p>He understood first.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI took eight,\u201d he repeated. \u201cI didn\u2019t take the whole bottle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat whole bottle?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roy\u2019s face had gone white.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe last refill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My heart started pounding.<\/p>\n<p>Arthur had received a refill five days before his death.<\/p>\n<p>I remembered picking it up.<\/p>\n<p>I remembered putting it in the upstairs drawer.<\/p>\n<p>Then hospice changed his medication plan.<\/p>\n<p>We never opened it.<\/p>\n<p>After Arthur died, I gathered his unused medications for hospice disposal.<\/p>\n<p>I had assumed the bottle was among them.<\/p>\n<p>I had never counted it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere is it?\u201d Sandra asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roy looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Daniel had Dad\u2019s prescription bottle\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Katz finished the thought.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026then we need to know whether Claire\u2019s crash was really an accident.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=18968\">Click here to continue reading: PART 14: Claire Woke With One Memory From the Crash, While Arthur\u2019s Firehouse Records Revealed Why Daniel Had Been Searching for Money Nobody Else Knew Existed<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mr. Katz called back forty-seven minutes later.
