when I should leave without including me.<\/p>\n<p>Now privacy bothered him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not keeping secrets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you call it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndependence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I drove away.<\/p>\n<p>My first night on Willow Creek Lane, I had almost no furniture.<\/p>\n<p>I ate Chinese food from the carton.<\/p>\n<p>A folding chair sat beside one lamp.<\/p>\n<p>Boxes lined the walls.<\/p>\n<p>Harold\u2019s photograph was the first thing I unpacked.<\/p>\n<p>I placed it on the fireplace mantel.<\/p>\n<p>The empty inside.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle stopped.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody got out.<\/p>\n<p>Renee emerged first.<\/p>\n<p>She stared at the porch.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel stepped out next.<\/p>\n<p>He looked at the out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe one we wanted!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I opened my front door.<\/p>\n<p>Four faces turned toward me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWelcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel climbed the porch steps slowly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMom?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat are you doing here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I raised the brass key.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI live here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Renee stared at HOLDINGS.<\/p>\n<p>She read it aloud.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel\u2019s attention snapped toward the letters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHMB?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He had seen that name.<\/p>\n<p>On folders.<\/p>\n<p>Envelopes.<\/p>\n<p>Documents near my computer.<\/p>\n<p>Things he had ignored when they belonged to his widowed mother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does HMB mean?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>I
