    Behind us, a distant door slammed.<\/p>\n

    Footsteps echoed somewhere in the corridor.<\/p>\n

    Lily grabbed my hand.<\/p>\n

    \u201cThey don\u2019t want us together,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

    \u201cWho?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n

    She looked up at me.<\/p>\n
