But anonymous sources have motives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel said, \u201cElliot is trying to turn her against me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I almost laughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou did enough yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went silent.<\/p>\n<p>I immediately regretted the cruelty.<\/p>\n<p>Not because it was false.<\/p>\n<p>Because I did not want to become someone who used truth only to wound.<\/p>\n<p>I said, \u201cThat was unnecessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel answered after a moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo. It was fair.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That somehow hurt more.<\/p>\n<p>Richard\u2019s phone rang.<\/p>\n<p>He answered, listened, then asked two questions.<\/p>\n<p>When he ended the call, he looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe trust office found the authorization form for the seventy-two-thousand-dollar transfer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My heart began pounding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWas it signed?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt carries your signature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel said, \u201cClaire, I didn\u2019t forge that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I believed he was about to defend himself.<\/p>\n<p>Richard continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe signature looks genuine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I frowned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you remember signing a renovation packet?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMultiple forms at once?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDaniel may not have forged anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My stomach turned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat are you saying?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe transfer instruction may have been inserted among legitimate documents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel said nothing.<\/p>\n<p>I looked at the phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you do that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A long silence.<\/p>\n<p>Then he whispered, \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The admission was worse than forgery.<\/p>\n<p>Because it used trust itself as the instrument.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou put a transfer authorization in papers you knew I would sign.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou watched me sign it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou never told me what it was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I could barely hear myself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause I knew you would say no.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sentence had now appeared too many times in our marriage.<\/p>\n<p>I ended the call.<\/p>\n<p>No warning.<\/p>\n<p>No goodbye.<\/p>\n<p>Just silence.<\/p>\n<p>Richard did not try to comfort me.<\/p>\n<p>I was grateful.<\/p>\n<p>I looked at the original anonymous message again.<\/p>\n<p>North Shore was never the first time he used your money.<\/p>\n<p>Whoever had sent it knew Daniel\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe Elliot.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe someone connected to Halcyon.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe someone I had never met.<\/p>\n<p>But one thing no longer depended on anonymous evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel had just admitted deliberately obtaining my signature on a financial transfer by disguising the form among unrelated documents.<\/p>\n<p>And for the first time since stepping off the train, I stopped wondering whether our marriage could return to what it had been.<\/p>\n<p>Because I finally understood that what it had been was the problem.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/insightdrama.com\/?p=13373\">Click here to continue reading: PART 15: My Father Found More Missing Money, While Daniel Finally Revealed the Real Reason He Could Never Walk Away From Elliot<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Richard did not let me open the attachment immediately. \u201cForward the entire email to me.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s already on my phone.\u201d \u201cI know.
