Somebody needs to remain with the officers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not a child.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I faced her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is why I am asking you to make an adult choice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The words landed.<\/p>\n<p>She swallowed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat choice?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStop chasing forgiveness long enough to be useful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chloe looked toward the evidence table.<\/p>\n<p>Then at Detective Vega.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat should I do?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vega handed her a number.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCall the bank. Freeze every account Jason could access. Do not transfer anything. Do not destroy anything. Give the financial investigators everything they request.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chloe nodded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd if Jason calls?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecord the time.
