The paper original is different.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho cares about paper?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA judge will.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly if anyone challenges it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m telling Jocelyn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, you aren\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A car door opened.<\/p>\n<p>Marianne said, \u201cMove.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ethan\u2019s voice changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know what happens if you do this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know what happens if I don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The recording ended.<\/p>\n<p>The detective looked at us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen was this recorded?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan checked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c12:02 this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Five minutes later, Marianne left Mercer Ridge.<\/p>\n<p>She had not vanished before discovering the alteration.<\/p>\n<p>She had vanished after deciding to tell me.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan\u2019s phone rang.<\/p>\n<p>He answered.<\/p>\n<p>His expression tightened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He listened.<\/p>\n<p>Then looked at the detective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolice found Marianne\u2019s car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAirport parking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brittany whispered, \u201cShe ran.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan shook his head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo luggage in the vehicle.
