child crying.<\/p>\n<p>June.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMom!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My knees nearly failed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJune!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sound cut off.<\/p>\n<p>Ruth returned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou want them Vaughn and Ruth to years of crimes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t have them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re standing beside them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She knew where I was.<\/p>\n<p>I looked around the depot.<\/p>\n<p>Watching?<\/p>\n<p>Tracking?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do you know?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVaughn underestimated you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat doesn\u2019t answer me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe thing, Celia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I nearly cried from relief.<\/p>\n<p>Ruth swore.<\/p>\n<p>A scuffle.<\/p>\n<p>Then silence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRuth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want the notebooks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re not getting them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Denise stared at me.<\/p>\n<p>Serrano gave no signal.<\/p>\n<p>This was my answer.<\/p>\n<p>Not his.<\/p>\n<p>Ruth\u2019s
