Guilt kept me hiding. Responsibility would have required action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He paused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo better than I did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then he looked toward something off camera.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lake house is yours together if you want it. Sell it if you do not. A building is not a family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He smiled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if you keep it, fix the porch railing. Alyssa thinks it\u2019s green. Candace will insist it used to be blue. They are both right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We stared at each other.<\/p>\n<p>Then laughed through tears.<\/p>\n<p>Dad knew.<\/p>\n<p>The video continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is one more thing in this house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alyssa groaned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On screen, he almost seemed amused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpstairs. Hall closet.
